KERRANG! INTERVIEW

from fallenyouth.net and from the aliens-exist.net forum.
Guitargod4182: Ok first question...the
biggest thing that all the fans are wondering right now is when
we are going to hear some AVA music, any idea when we might hear
some?
Ryan Sinn: There are no set dates
as to when anything is coming out. Have a little patience, once
a single is released, it's just going to make you impatient for
the rest of the album. It will all be here soon enough...
Guitargod4182: what happened on
Dec. 13th? on Macbethfootwear.com it said that there was going
to be the song "Valkyrie Missile" on iTunes.......but
that didn't happen
Ryan Sinn: we decided to put the
trailer up instead. the podcast was also supposed to be out that
day, but due to some last minute failure in technology, it came
out later....as just audio...so we put the first contact video
up...we wanted to have more of a trailer leading up to things
instead of just the regular here's a song..blah blah blah...
I know a lot of people just want to hear a song, but I think this
was more special, more of a statement than just releasing a song.
that time will come, but I think an introduction to the band was
a better starting point
Guitargod4182: yes the trailer
for the movie was awesome, I loved the music in the background...
Guitargod4182: speaking of the
movie, in the trailer it looked like the movie was part real footage
and part animated.....is that what it is going to be like?
Ryan Sinn: there's a lot going
on in the movie...CG, live action.....the trailer's a good idea
to get a glimpse of what the movie will be like, but it's only
a small glimpse
Guitargod4182: How did you guys
form this band? did Tom just like call you up one day and ask
you to join him?
Ryan Sinn: I think Tom thought
a lot about who he wanted to work with. I met with him and David
to talk about what they were working on, it pretty much just went
from there
Guitargod4182: how long have you
known each member of the band?
Ryan Sinn: I think it was winter
of 2002 or so...some Christmas festival in Washington dc. the
distillers and boxcar played. that's when I met Tom and David.
the distillers played a ton of festivals with the offspring, Atom
and I sort of knew each other, but I'd say the first time we met
was at the photo shoot for AP
Guitargod4182: Do you consider
AVA to be a "side-project"?
Ryan Sinn: not at all
Guitargod4182: so you guys are going to be around for a while
then right
Ryan Sinn: I would say that's the
plan
Guitargod4182: awesome
Guitargod4182: now, what was your
first reaction the very first time you heard the AVA music?
Ryan Sinn: well the very first
thing I heard is in a completely different world than the first
thing you'll hear. The first thing I heard was an idea, mostly
drum and bass type stuff with guitar...just the basic idea of
what Tom had in his head....It interested me, I liked his ideas
and wanted to be a part of it
Guitargod4182: so would you say
you guys are making a completely new type of music?
Ryan Sinn: I wouldn't say we're
doing anything other than making great music that we believe in.
I’m sure some people will label it this, others will label
it that. To me it's all rock n roll. labels just start meaningless
arguments over the internet
Ryan Sinn: people will say just
about anything,, it just amazes me sometimes how many other people
listen to it
Guitargod4182: ok, now we have
heard 8 song titles
Guitargod4182:
-Valkyrie Missile
-The Adventure
-The War
-A little’s Enough
-Do It For Me Now
-Distraction
-It Hurts
-Start The Machine
Guitargod4182: the album is supposed
to have 10 songs, could you name the other 2?
Ryan Sinn: haha I couldn't name
more than four if you didn't just list them.
I have a cd of all the songs at home that I use to practice and
what not.
there's no titles on it, so I know all the songs as track 3, track
9, etc....
Guitargod4182: ha that's ok
Guitargod4182: and the last question...just
curious about this one........what guitar will Tom be using? is
he going back to his old Fender Stratocaster Signature or is he
using his most recent Gibson Signature?
Ryan Sinn: I have no idea, you'd
have to ask him. we've used a lot of different guitars and basses
while recording but I don't know what he'll be using live.
Guitargod4182: Tom doesnt have
an e-mail or AIM does he? then i could ask him lol
Ryan Sinn: I'm sure you'll know
which he's using soon enough
Guitargod4182: ok, well thank you
for taking about an hour and a half out of your extended vacation
to do this interview and like i said it is really cool of you
to take time to talk to your fans
Ryan Sinn: no problem, I'm really
just sitting around watching a howard stern biography right now
